The most important aspect of this ceremony is the exchange of goods between the fertility-giving/taking houses. This ritual exchange of goods is known in the Naueti language as: rai-hlu rai-taka (rai=deliver, hlu=goods, take=woven basket). The goods represent a blessing or feminine qualities gifted from the fertility-giving house to the fertility-taking house in exchange for "masculine" goods symbolising security and protection.
