Miguel Vinsasi, a midwife from Oecusse and traditional healer living in Baucau Municipality, demonstrates how he prepares the roots and bark of plants and trees to make traditional medicine in order to cure a range of illnesses including kidney problems, appendicitis and birthing complications.

In this video Miguel names the plants and roots in his native Baikeno as well as Makassae. He cooks up a medicine for kidney illness/stones and one of his patients attests to how this kind of medicine indeed cured him of his illness.
