Miguel Vinsasi is from Oecusse but now lives in the Baucau district where he works in house construction.  He is known to be highly knowledgeable in plant remedies and is a skilled birth attendant. His knowledge is handed down through his father’s house and prayer is central to his harvest and healing practice. During the Indonesian occupation he worked closely with the formal health system as a traditional birth attendant in Oecusse. Now people in Baucau often call on him to treat them.
